Chertsey residents are invited to take part in the 8-week Chertsey Pop-Up Trail challenge on the free BetterPoints app. Earn rewards and win prizes for walking, scooting and wheeling around your local neighbourhood.
The BetterPoints app rewards people for travelling in healthier and greener ways. The rewards you earn can be spent with local and national businesses or donated to charity.
Getting started is simple. Download the free app, sign up and complete the short Get Started Survey, then just pop your phone in your pocket as you go about your day – the app will automatically record your trips.
Whether you're heading to the shops, visiting friends or trying out the Bugs and Blooms Activity Trail, can you choose to make more everyday journeys on foot? You will earn exclusive rewards and be in with a chance of winning some fabulous prizes if so!
How do I get started?
Download the free BetterPoints app from the App Store or Google Play or by scanning the QR code below.
Register an account using your Chertsey postcode to join the Pop-Up Trail challenge.
Take the Get Started Survey to earn your first 100 BetterPoints and unlock rewards for walking, scooting and wheeling.
By joining this challenge, you'll also join Surrey's Greener Future, a programme offering even more rewards for people who live, work or study in Surrey until at least March 2027. Tap the⚡Challenges icon in the app to find out more.

The challenge runs from 15 July to 13 September 2026.
What rewards can I earn?
📝 Get Started Survey
Complete the Get Started Survey to earn your first 100 BetterPoints and unlock rewards and prize draws throughout the challenge.
🚶 Walk, wheel or scoot
Earn 1 point per minute for every walk, scoot or wheel that starts or finishes in Chertsey, up to 30 points per day.
🎒 Grand prize draw
Record 20 minutes of walking, scooting or wheeling in a single day to earn entries to the grand prize draw. The more days of 20 minutes you do, the greater your chances of winning. On 14 September, 9 lucky winners will be drawn to win one of the following prizes: 3 reflective rucksacks and 6 insulated water bottles.
🎁 Daily prize draw
Every day, 10 participants will win 250 BetterPoints. Record 10 minutes of walking, scooting or wheeling in Chertsey to earn an entry. Each additional 10-minute activity earns another entry, up to 4 entries per day.
👥 Refer a friend
Earn 1,000 BetterPoints for every friend, family member or colleague in Chertsey who joins BetterPoints using your referral code, up to 5 referrals.
⭐ Chertsey Champion
Share your story and inspire others to get involved. Complete the Chertsey Champion survey when prompted for a chance to win 20,000 BetterPoints (£20). Selected stories may be featured in the app and on social media.
What can I spend my points on?
Head to the 🎁 Rewards section of the app to browse vouchers from local independent businesses including Revive Coffee Shop and Rose Blend Cafe, as well as high street brands. You can also donate your points to local and national charities.
Can I take part if I don't live in Chertsey?
No, this challenge is only available to Chertsey residents. However, the Surrey's Greener Future programme is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Surrey, so if that is you, sign up to the BetterPoints app to be rewarded.
Is there anything else happening around this challenge?

Can I take part if I use a wheelchair, and if so, how do I record my journeys?
Yes! All kinds of wheelchairs can be recorded as 'wheeling' in our app. Due to the motion sensors inbuilt in your device, and our algorithms in the app, it may assume you are cycling, rather than wheeling. In your timeline, after completing your journey, you will be able to amend this to wheeling and your journey will be updated. The same applies to scooting. You will be awarded the same amount of points/prize draw entries as walking trips.
